Guild Rules
Our rules are fairly standard. That doesn’t mean they should be ignored.
* Please speak in English when talking in guild chat (we’re on an English-speaking server, after all)
* Avoid using bad language where possible (at least until the 10pm server time “watershed”)
* Do not use the bank without reading the information about it below.
* Be good to each other. You never know when you’ll need the help of someone you may have insulted.
BIG NO-NOs
Doing any of the following will get you seriously slapped wrists, and – depending on the mood of the officer(s) online at the time – may also get you kicked:
1. Bullying/Taunting/Sniping at Other Guild Members. We were all newbs once, so be helpful to people who need your help, and don’t ridicule those who know less than you.
2. Begging for Promotions. Promotions are granted at the discretion of guild officers and the GM, but generally being nice or helping out in any way you can will help. Repeatedly asking why you can’t have a promotion after you’ve been with us 2 days isn’t the way to go about making friends.
3. General Begging. This includes begging for promotions and boosts as well as for money. You may ask ONCE for the money/item/boost you require. If someone is available and willing to help, good for you. If there isn’t, don’t pester members. Please report beggars to an officer; this INCLUDES spotting a guild member begging in the Trade Channel or elsewhere.
4. Spamming the guild chat channel. It’s no good when you’re trying to concentrate on a quest/dungeon/etc and all you can see on your screen is repeated gibberish from the same person. Please report spammers to an officer; this INCLUDES spotting a guild member spamming the Trade Channel or elsewhere. NB: We class multi-line character animations (the dancing bunnies, etc etc) as spam, and repeated use of them will get you in trouble.
Chat Rules
A big part of the guild is its chat channel; it’s how guildies get to know each other, ask for help, arrange instances and raids, etc.
In order to keep things running as smoothly as possible, we ask that you adhere to these rules where possible involving guild chat. Ignorance is not an option. People breaking these rules will be warned, a few too many faux pas and you could be muted, and repeat ‘offenders’ may even be kicked altogether, depending on the tolerance level of the officers online at the time.
Take these rules as they come. We like to put our emphasis into being a casual guild, but most of the following riles even the most mellow of us, so avoid it when possible.
Obviously, officers and the GM aren’t available all the time. If you notice something happening that goes against our rules, be sure to mail one of the bigwigs in-game and let us know.
So, here are the rules:
1. Don’t repeat yourself! Don’t repeat yourself! Don’t repeat yourself!
If you ask a question, don’t repeat it every 30 sec until you get an answer. Asking once is enough, if someone knows or have what you ask for they will answer. If not, wait and ask again later, when other people have logged in. “Later” does not mean every minute, either.
2. No Personal Arguments!
If you have a problem with someone else from guild, take it up with that person through PMs, not in guildchat. If you fight in guildchat you will both get punished. Even if you didn’t start it, so if someone picks a fight with you in guildchat, then PM them back. You are of course welcome to take screenshots of chat, in case you need to give it to an officer or a Games Master.
3. No Attacking Guildmates
You will not verbally abuse a fellow guildmate or talk about them behind their back. By abuse we mean personal attacks, harassment or other things of related nature. Adult jokes and such are okay as long as you know the chances of anyone taking offense is minimal. This broadly covers any kind of snide remarks that officers concede to be ‘out-of-line’.
4. No Racial Slurs
You will be careful around real life political and religious subjects. Some topics are worse than others. This includes racial slurs.
Examples includes the use of the N-word and hate propaganda to a particular group of people.
Many of you know each other well and we have very different backgrounds, but remember there are others who might be more sensitive, so keep in mind some jokes might be better in /p or /w
5. No Links to Illegal/Offensive Stuff
This means no links to sites that sell ingame stuff for wow, no links for any offensive / pornographic pictures etc… If you post this in guild chat we will report it to blizzard because it is against their policy. Also remember that we will have people in the guild that are under 18.
6. No Conversations Involving Subjects that Go Against Blizzard’s ToS (Terms of Service)
We like Blizzard; they’ve given us a nice game to play together. Therefore, we would ask you not to talk about matters that are against Blizzard’s ToS (that is to say, do not talk about HOW to do things that are against Blizzard’s ToS), such as:
- Account Sharing/Selling
- Buying/Selling Gold or other items for real-life money
- Private Servers
- Botting/Automating
7. Don’t Be Lazy!
Do not expect your guildies to answer all your questions for you about how to complete quest XYZ, the value of item ABC, or the location of an NPC. Do some investigating yourself. There are various resource sites out there to help you on your WoW journey ( wowhead.com , QuestHelper AddOn, Auctioneer AddOn, to name but a few), and Heaven forbid, you could even READ THE QUEST TEXT =)
8. Don’t be a Moron
Without sounding like a primary school teacher, don’t be an idiot in guild chat. Examples: DON’T TALK IN CONSTANT CAPS. Don’t talk repeatedly to yourself. Don’t ask why people aren’t talking (to you or in general – people have things to do they’re not always talking in chat). Don’t bitch about the fact that people aren’t talking (to you or in general). Don’t bitch if you tell a story and people don’t smother you with praise. Don’t bitch if you “ding” and people don’t “grats” (it has happened before). Treat your guildies with equal respect you would expect to get yourself, all the while assuming that if you act like a moron, people will treat you like one.
