Five Druids Walk Into a Bar…

…I don’t really have a joke to go along with that.

So, anyway, having come back to Warcraft after a short sabbatical, I wanted to go and try something really outlandish. I’ve already had plenty of experience with dual-boxing (having levelled Disotto to 60 that way), and after having seen various videos with Shamans of Doom, I got to thinking: I could do that! And, famous last words of “How hard could it be?”

So I did it. I recruited myself 4 times (also went about this the wrong way, but that’s an even less uninteresting story), made a druid on my account and 4 identical-looking druids on the other 4 accounts (except the hair colours – I wanted some way to tell them apart).

With Recruit a Friend, I was earning triple XP on each account, so while being in a group of 5 characters, I was still earning plenty of XP.

As with dual-boxing, there are some obvious limitations to levelling 5 characters at once, especially when 4 of them are trial accounts.

1/ Collect X number of Y quests are out of the question.

2/ You can’t trade with the slaves. When I ended the trial at level 20, the majority of the druids still had their starter gear on.

The process is made easier with software that can emulate keystrokes between all five clients (I use(d) software called Keyclone, which – despite the name and the stigma – is not against the Blizzard ToS, as there still needs to be a person behind all of the accounts, bashing the buttons).

But anyway, that’s enough blabber; here’s some screenshots:

In summary, all I can say is that trying to play 5 accounts at once is ridiculously difficult, and I won’t be converting the accounts from their trial.

Still keeping to my trusty dual-box though! Cattrina and Bahzinga, chaaaaaaaaaarge!
