The Way of the Worgen
Having levelled a Goblin through the starting zones it was time to give the new Alliance race a go. Worgen seem less impressive at first glance, they seem to get less cool/useful racials the main attraction being the ability to transform into a Human/Worgen. Even that is hardly much of an ability (you transform into a Worgen whenever you are in combat and cannot change back until out of combat).
You’ve got to be kidding me!
Like a lot of people that play World of Warcraft I registered for the Beta when it was announced. I didn’t really expect to get picked, even if it was a totally random chance, I’d never been in a Beta before and in a sense I would be quite happy if I didn’t get picked. Unlike a lot of players I still had a lot of things I wanted to do in Wrath of the Lich King before Cataclysm launched.
So the Beta launched and I didn’t give it much thought, I logged onto the account management page the Saturday after the launch to check on something and saw a new button there. It said Cataclysm Beta, I went off to check my email and sure enough there was an email confirming the fact. Nervously I downloaded the Beta client, always the suspicion at the back of my mind that this was some kind of hack attempt on my account. I spent much of the rest of Saturday morning into the afternoon downloading and installing the patches (I think the whole thing came to 32gb). After a few false starts I was ready to go, the login screen came up and then I had 4 realms to select from one of which was Mekkatorque (EU), the others were Korean and two in the US (one PvE the other PvP).
A few people now have asked me about the guild’s history; the page briefly outlining it doesn’t cover it. So, sit back, relax…and enjoy this journey through the EPIC adventure through to guilddom…and beyond!
This started off as a reply to a new guildie (also new to wow) who seemed unsure about what class/role to play. The it just got longer and longer and I thought it would be an appropriate blog post. Maybe I’ll eventually do one each about the classes I know, maybe this will be it 
…I don’t really have a joke to go along with that.
So, anyway, having come back to Warcraft after a short sabbatical, I wanted to go and try something really outlandish. I’ve already had plenty of experience with dual-boxing (having levelled Disotto to 60 that way), and after having seen various videos with Shamans of Doom, I got to thinking: I could do that! And, famous last words of “How hard could it be?”
Last night, some people were unable to login to WoW, as the login servers were down.
The problem is still present this morning. Looking from the general feedback on the WoW forums, it would appear that if you just keep trying, you’ll eventually get online.
The official WoW forums have been abuzz these past few days. The reason? Well, Blizzard announced 2 days ago plans to introduce the RealID system onto the forums. This would have meant that instead of logging into one of your in-game characters to post under, you would have been forced to write forum posts under the alias of your real name. That is, the name associated against your account.

Nice little song I came across after listening to The Instance podcast. Also first time our NuGen raiding guild (Compromised) flew through ICC last night (9/12) instead of our using faffing around. There are a few parody songs about WoW flying around. Some really good ones are done by this guy, Darkpippithemage. Enjoy! Rx
Yesterday, some of us were cackling like witches at the fact that the Mazrigos server wasn’t in the list of servers listed for a 24 hour extended maintenance in addition to the regular maintenance today.
